There are many computers now available when you step into any electronics store; the only trouble is that the world of technology moves at such a pace that many computers that are cutting edge today are quickly replaced by something better, faster and in most cases smaller too. This is especially true when it comes to computers, newer, faster components are always being worked on and to the outsider it can be difficult to keep up and know that you are getting a good deal.
When faced with the line up at your local shop or when being blinded with figures by a pushy salesperson you may end up making the wrong choice, or at least not the best choice. Many shops will be trying to push their most expensive model or one that they are trying to sell in order to make way for some other model. Doing a little bit of research and knowing what to look for can really help you when seeking a new laptop.
Screen Size
Obviously most laptop screen are going to be smaller than a desktop machine, it is one of the tradeoffs you make when choosing a portable computer but you don’t want to pick a model that you will be squinting and leaning forward to read either. Most laptops come with either a 15″ or 17″ screen, depending on how you use it could determine which size you go for. For most people looking for a mobile computer to take with them a smaller and lighter 15″ model will be preferred, if you are looking to replace a desktop or get a computer that can be easily stored away when not in use then a 17″ laptop could be preferred.
Processor
The processor is the brains of a computer and obviously a faster processor will mean you not only get tasks done quicker but can also allow you to multi-task without any noticeable drops in performance. A lot of people will multi-task when on a computer such as listening to music whilst writing emails and browsing the internet. Depending on how heavy a user you are going to be will give you an idea of how fast your processor needs to be, people who do video editing and other intensive processes will need a much faster processor.
Storage
Typically laptop computers will have significantly lower storage space than a desktop and the downside is that you are limited in how much extra storage you can add to your laptop. There are alternatives though as you could save files onto memory cards and USB drives, most laptops have memory card readers and there are a lot of external hard drives that can bolster your storage space but you may not be able to carry it around with you easily.
Consider all of the features that are important to you when buying any computers; you need to be careful you don’t over spend for a specification that is more than you need as well as being careful not to buy a laptop that is underpowered and slow.
